In AD 61, Boudica, queen of the Iceni, led a revolt against Roman rule in Britain. After the death of her husband Prasutagus, Roman officials seized his kingdom. According to the historian Tacitus, Boudica was flogged and her daughters were sexually assaulted. The Iceni rose up alongside the Trinovantes and other Britons who had grievances of their own. Boudica’s army destroyed Camulodunum (Colchester), then burned Londinium (London) and Verulamium (St Albans). But who was this woman who inspired her people to defy Rome? What had the occupiers done to provoke such destruction? And why has Boudicca’s story remained so enduring almost two thousand years later? *If you enjoy my videos please consider supporting the channel* Become a YouTube Channel Member: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUVwT8zcS5Z_rYXnpomlbfg/join Support me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/dandavisauthor All my books on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3xngwz5 *Sources* Tacitus, Annals https://link.amazon/B07v9Smsb Tacitus, Agricola (barely a source) https://link.amazon/B08mHLTPo Cassius Dio, Roman History (book 62) https://link.amazon/B03KeYX5o Echolands: A Journey in Search of Boudica by Duncan Mackay https://link.amazon/B04MNMQqV Cassidy, L.
